Lizbeth De La Rosa Abreu: Dedication, Medicine and Social Commitment

Lizbeth De La Rosa Abreu, originally from Puerto Rico, is a young woman committed to her vocation to serve. She is currently in her first year in the Doctor of Medicine program at Pennsylvania State University, specializing in pediatrics. Her academic journey began at the University of Rochester, where she earned her bachelor's degree, and she has continued her education thanks to the support of the Kinesis Foundation and its Bright Stars scholarship program.  

From a young age, Lizbeth knew that medicine was her path. Drawn to the ability to help people and make a positive impact on society, she decided to pursue this profession. During her time at the university, Lizbeth has had the opportunity to participate in research conferences, where she has presented projects that address crucial issues in pediatric care, addressing patients and their families.  

The road has not been easy. Throughout her career, she has faced the arduous task of managing applications for high-level medical programs, which demanded a lot of preparation and effort. However, her strengths, such as discipline, organization and deep empathy, have helped her overcome every obstacle. In addition, she has learned to manage stress through her love of dance, enjoying rhythms such as salsa and bachata, which offer her the necessary balance in her life. 

Thanks to the financial and emotional support of the Kinesis Foundation, Lizbeth has been able to focus on her studies without worrying about the financial burden that a medical student usually faces. This scholarship has allowed her to not only thrive academically, but also to explore research opportunities, one of her long-term passions.  

As she looks to the future, Lizbeth envisions herself starting her residency and continuing her research work in pediatrics. Her advice to other students is clear: “Don't compare yourself to others. Everyone has their own path, and the important thing is to trust the process.”  

Lizbeth De La Rosa Abreu is an inspiring example of how dedication, effort and the right support can open doors to a bright future. Her commitment to medicine and her desire to help the most vulnerable reflect the impact the Kinesis Foundation has on the lives of talented young people like her.
