Thanks to a partnership with the University of Notre Dame, university students in Puerto Rico have access to a graduate fellowship and summer research programs—two distinct paths for continued academic growth at one of the top universities in the United States.

This partnership was made possible thanks to the support of Notre Dame trustee José Enrique Fernández, founder of the Kinesis Foundation, and reflects both institutions’ shared commitment to developing Puerto Rican talent.

Summer Research Programs
Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP)

These opportunities are available to students at any university who wish to enter master’s or doctoral programs and want to conduct research at the University of Notre Dame, one of the top universities in the United States.

Once students are admitted to the university, the Kinesis Fund covers all expenses, in addition to providing stipends and travel expenses. To qualify, students must have been born in Puerto Rico and lived on the island for at least five consecutive years

Summer Research Programs

Eligibility:

Applicants must have been born in Puerto Rico and have lived on the island for at least 5 consecutive years. Once admitted to the program, the Kinesis Fund covers all expenses, as well as a stipend and travel costs.

Graduate Fellowship

Kinesis-Fernández Richards Family Fellowship

A fellowship for master’s and doctoral students admitted to Notre Dame, designed to increase Puerto Rican diversity in its graduate programs. It covers a stipend and tuition, with additional benefits determined by the university.

This fellowship is not applied for directly; candidates are identified and nominated by their own academic department at Notre Dame once they have been admitted. Learn more about this opportunity and find out if this path is right for you.
