WHO IS SANTIAGO "CHAGO" GARCÍA?
Santiago "Chago" García was a beloved blind professor who taught math and physics for more than half a century at Saint John's School in San Juan.
He inspired generations of students to pursue careers in math and science.
He was known for his honesty, his dedication to teaching, and his ability to inspire students
to work hard and dream big.
WHAT IS THE
SANTIAGO "CHAGO" GARCÍA AWARD?
The winner will receive a $5,000 award to be used in one (1) of the following activities to be chosen by the educator:
1. Continuing education:
The winner will contact Kinesis to arrange enrollment, plane tickets, stay, and meals.
2. Education congress, education conference, or summer program:
The winner will contact Kinesis to arrange the congress program, enrollment, plane tickets, stay, and meals.
3. Educational equipment for the classroom or innovative project in the subject they teach:
The educator must submit a quote and description for the project to receive the award.
Who can win the award?
The Santiago "Chago" García Award will be granted to an educator teaching STEM subjects from 9th to 12th grade.

What's the process like?
To participate, students interested in nominating an educator must complete the nomination form.
Important Information
The nomination form will be available from March 1, 2024 until March 31, 2024.
When an educator is selected as a winner, they will be notified via email and phone call on April 15, 2024.
The winner will be recognized during the Bright Stars graduation taking place on June 12, 2024.
