Jeliann Ramos, A Testament of Determination and Opportunity

From San Juan, Puerto Rico, is a clear example that, with the right support and a resilient mindset, dreams can become reality. Her story is one of overcoming challenges, hard work, and gratitude for the opportunities that life and programs like Kinesis have provided her. 

From a young age, Jeliann faced various challenges, particularly in the financial realm. She grew up in a home with limited resources, but with a strong desire to succeed academically. Although she was always an outstanding student, economic needs were a constant challenge. However, this obstacle did not discourage her; on the contrary, it motivated her to find ways to keep moving forward. 

The turning point in her life came when she learned about the Kinesis program through her mentor. At first, she thought it might just be another opportunity on her long journey to university, but she soon discovered that Kinesis offered much more than just a scholarship. “My mentor sent me a flyer for the application, and with it, a spark of hope,” Jeliann recalls. It was then that she realized that the program not only provided financial support but also a network of resources, training, and the chance to connect with people who truly believed in her. 

Kinesis' support was crucial to her success. One of the biggest challenges she faced was the lack of a computer, which was essential for her academic work. Thanks to the Kinesis Foundation, she was able to obtain a computer during her first semester of college, which allowed her to access study materials and continue her education without limitations. Additionally, the program helped her strengthen her organizational, leadership, and discipline skills through extracurricular opportunities and training outside of school, enabling her to stand out in her higher education. 

Jeliann was accepted to the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, where she is pursuing a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. Gaining admission to such a prestigious university was a significant achievement, but also a great responsibility. However, with Kinesis' support, she gained the confidence to move forward and felt capable of facing the challenges presented by university life. “Knowing that someone is betting on me has given me the courage to pursue my dreams and know that I can achieve great things,” she says with pride. 

The impact of Kinesis on Jeliann's life has been profound. It has not only provided her with the tools to improve her academic performance, but it has also helped her broaden her vision of what she can achieve. Through connections and ongoing support, Jeliann has become a role model for other young people in her community, showing that, with effort and the right support, anything is possible. 

Jeliann's advice to other students is clear and motivating: “Take each day at a time, enjoy it, and what is meant to will be.” For her, every step counts, and the most important thing is never to give up, despite the adversities. She also emphasizes the importance of always seeking new opportunities and taking advantage of available resources, just as she did by joining Kinesis. 

Today, Jeliann is not only a high-performing academic student but also a young woman who inspires others to follow their dreams, not be defeated by challenges, and believe in themselves. Thanks to the support of the Kinesis Foundation, Jeliann has transformed her life, and now, through her example, she is paving the way for more young people to dare to dream big and make those dreams come true.
