From the Creole City of Caguas to North Carolina, where he fulfilled his academic dream at Wake Forest University, Giovanni Rivera Carvajal has taken an inspiring journey that exemplifies perseverance, effort, and dedication.
Giovanni graduated from TASIS School in Dorado in 2020, where he was a scholarship student. Just a few weeks ago, he celebrated a significant achievement by completing his bachelor's degree in economics at Wake Forest University. Giovanni's connection with Kinesis began thanks to his brother, Alessandro Rivera, who was also a Kinesis scholarship recipient.
Inspired by his brother's path, Giovanni joined the Bright Stars program and received a Kinesis scholarship to support his studies. He also had the opportunity to work as an intern at Banco Popular (2021), the Agency and Financial Advisory Authority (AAFAP) (2022), and Bank of America (2023), thanks to Fundación Kinesis.
“Kinesis has helped me in many ways to achieve my goals. As a scholarship recipient, Kinesis provided financial assistance during my college years that covered necessary expenses to complete my studies. Additionally, Fundación Kinesis helped me connect with organizations and private companies that offered internship and full-time job opportunities. Thanks to this, I was able to participate in an extensive interview process with several companies in Puerto Rico,” Giovanni shares.
Giovanni emphasizes his gratitude for the scholarship he received at TASIS School, and the support provided by Kinesis. These experiences have shaped his life and contributed to his development as a successful professional.
In his free time, Giovanni enjoys going to the gym, the movies, the beach, and exploring the island. He advises students: “Pursue what you love and are passionate about, and never stop learning! There is always room for improvement, and we will never be perfect. But every day we should strive to be better than yesterday.” Giovanni proudly and enthusiastically shares that he will start working as a Commercial Banking Trainee at Oriental Bank in Puerto Rico.
