Being part of Kinesis, Marisabel was able to focus on achieving new milestones.
From the mountains of Jayuya, Marisabel González Acevedo has shown that no barrier is too high to stop a heart full of dreams. Her journey to success began at the specialized school Josefina León Zayas, where her passion for learning and academic dedication led her to excel in all her areas of interest.
Marisabel highlights that her life has not been easy, but every challenge has made her stronger and more determined to achieve excellence. In 2019, this brilliant young woman completed eighth grade with honors and academic excellence, marking the beginning of what she considers an impeccable academic journey.
It wasn't until ninth grade that the Kinesis Foundation entered her life, becoming the opportunity that would change her future forever. She joined the Bright Stars program, where she found a community that supported and guided her in her development as a future university student and, in her own words, "a better human being."
Being part of Kinesis, Marisabel was able to focus on achieving new milestones. In April 2022, her talent led her to be recognized in an essay published by El Nuevo Día. In 2023, her mathematical skills shone as she won first place in her school's Math Olympiad and participated in the Regional Olympiad in Adjuntas.
Her voice was not only recognized in academics, but her ideas even reached the Secretary of Education (2023), a moment that demonstrated her valuable contributions and continues to inspire her to pursue excellence.
Marisabel's constant effort was reflected in her graduation from eleventh grade in June 2023, where she received several awards, including the Kinesis Certificate and the A+ Award—testimonies of her dedication and excellence. She achieved her first major milestone in August 2023 when she was admitted to the University of Puerto Rico in Ponce, not only as a Natural Sciences student in Biomedical Sciences but also as part of the Honors Studies Program, awarded in recognition of her hard work and commitment.
With the desire to improve every day, Marisabel completed her first year, and in May 2024, she celebrated the first step toward becoming a doctor—a dream she is determined to achieve as she now prepares to take the medical school admission exam with the firm conviction of specializing in neurology.
Although her academic achievements are her top priority, this remarkable young woman knows that her roots and the lessons she has learned will always accompany her. She takes care of herself as much as she does her goals, enjoying a day at the beach with family and friends, exercising, and recognizing the importance of maintaining balance to stay focused on her aspirations.
For Kinesis, Marisabel has only words of gratitude: "Because it not only provided me with the tools for my academic development but also helped me get to know myself better, overcome my shyness, and gain the confidence to think about and focus on my future."
Her advice to other students is clear: "Prepare yourselves, aspire to learn more, be persistent, and always seek opportunities that will help you grow professionally."
Marisabel is an example that, with effort, dedication, and support, even the biggest dreams can come true. Her story is an inspiration to all those who, like her, strive for success while never forgetting where they come from or who they are.
The inspiring story of Marisabel González Acevedo is proof that dedication, curiosity, and the right support can open unimaginable doors. Her journey continues to motivate other young people to follow in her footsteps and achieve their own goals.
At the Kinesis Foundation, we are committed to providing invaluable opportunities so that talented young people like Marisabel can reach their dreams and transform their futures.
