Alexandra Sánchez Acevedo, a native of Canóvanas, is a young student who epitomizes academic excellence and student leadership. A 2023 graduate of Carvin School, Inc., she is currently a sophomore at the University of Notre Dame, majoring in Accounting and Latino Studies. Her career has been marked by impressive accomplishments and a deep commitment to her community and personal development.
Since her freshman year at the university, Alexandra stood out by being Co-Coordinator of the Latina Recognition Ceremony and landing a coveted internship with Deloitte. She participated in the university's consulting competition, where her team placed in the top five, and was selected from over 1,600 applicants for KPMG's Rise Leadership Conference. She also demonstrated her athletic prowess by winning first place in the intramural tennis tournament in both singles and doubles.
In her second year, she continued accumulating notable accomplishments, such as being part of the 13% of students selected to work at the nonprofit Jubilee Initiative for Financial Inclusion, where she guides South Bend residents in financial strategies. She also assumed leadership roles as Treasurer of the Caribbean Student Association and Alumni Co-Coordinator of the Latino Student Association, among others. Her dedication and skills secured her a return with Deloitte for next summer.
Alexandra attributes much of her success to the support provided by the Kinesis Foundation. Thanks to her scholarship, she was focused on her studies without worrying about the associated costs. “Kinesis has helped me with my financial needs. Without that help, my family and I would be much more stressed. Their support has been instrumental in alleviating those worries and giving me the support I need to achieve my goals,” Alexandra said.
Beyond her academic and professional achievements, Alexandra enjoys tennis, reading, making bracelets, and hanging out with friends. In her words, “My advice to other students is to learn as much as you can about your interests and connect with professionals early on. Do what you are most passionate about because that makes the process an adventure rather than an obligation.”
The impact of the Kinesis Foundation on her life is a testament to the power of community support to transform dreams into reality. Alexandra Sánchez Acevedo is, without a doubt, a shining example of what can be achieved with effort, dedication, and a little help along the way.
